Pebble Merge looks gentle, but the board fills faster than it feels. The players with the highest scores are not the fastest — they are the ones who keep the pile flat. Here are five habits worth building.
1. Keep the board low and wide
A tall, single-column stack is how most rounds end. Spread your drops across the full width so pebbles have room to meet their twins. Aim for a gentle hill, never a spike.
2. Merge from the bottom up
When you can, settle a pebble directly onto a matching partner that is already low. Bottom merges free up space immediately and chain upward, whereas stacking and hoping tends to lock tiers apart.
3. Use the side walls as shelves
Corners and walls gently hold a pebble in place. Tucking a needed tier into a corner buys you a turn to find its match, instead of letting it roll into the middle of a mismatch.
4. Don't chase the Sunstone
The top tiers are rare and pretty, but the steady points come from the early merges. Chasing a single Aquamarine or Sunstone often strands lower tiers and ends the round. Let the high tiers happen as a side effect of good housekeeping.
5. Play the Daily board on purpose
Daily mode gives everyone the same seeded board. It is the best place to practice one habit at a time — try "stay wide" for a week and watch your daily best climb. Compare on the local leaderboard without the noise of random seeds.
A quick score sanity check
If your rounds keep ending around the same tier, the fix is almost always board shape, not speed. Slow down, widen the pile, and let merges find you.
Put it to the test.
Open a Daily board and try to keep the hill flat for the whole round.
