The idea
Most puzzle games are about speed, pressure, or beating a timer. Pebble Merge is the opposite. It is built around a single, quiet loop: drop a stone, watch two of a kind become one, and see the rough rock slowly turn into something that catches the light. There is no fail state you can't recover from in ten seconds, and no score you "should" hit.
The design borrows from the best of the merge genre — the satisfying pop when two pieces combine — and pairs it with a real physics engine, so every drop and settle feels grounded rather than scripted.
Why a "polish progression"
A lot of merge games look the same at every tier: a bigger version of the same blob. We wanted the climb to feel like progress. So each tier polishes a little more — from a matte, unfinished pebble at the bottom, to hard, faceted cuts at the top. The higher you get, the more the stone looks like a gem you actually earned.
"We didn't want a harder game. We wanted a calmer one — something you open for five minutes and close feeling steadier than when you started."
